Child of Apophis - It's A Brand New world
Welcome to Earth, just under one hundred years into the future. It's been three generations since The Impact, the collision of a planet-killer asteroid with the Moon. The Moon was destroyed in the event. In it's place now spins a new body, the new sun.
Under the beading gaze of now two suns the Earth's climate began to change wildly and brought humanity to it's knees. Here, in North America the temperatures in the day are high enough to induce heat stroke in as little as an hour and at night what little water is left freezes solid. What were once grasslands are now expanses of dust and the occasional stubborn weed. The only wildlife that survives this climate must face the daily dangers of thirst, starvation, heat, and the toxic influence of the new sun.
The new sun's green glow radiates strongly in the day, any exposed skin is likely to fester in just a few hours. The wildlife that is unfortunate enough to not find regular shelter is often vile and mutated. Many humans have formed tribal groups of cannibals who are commonly known to rape and then eat anyone unlucky enough to be found by their hunters.
